This picture, taken by Leidy Pinzón today during the student protest in Bogotá, is amazing. The protest consisted in students walking from various universities, public and private, toward Plaza de Bolívar (Bogotá’s central square, where the most important public and political gatherings take place) - in opposition to a (very problematic, to put it extremely mildly) education reform the Colombian government has submitted to approval by Congress. The purported education reform has created a feeling of outrage among a large portion of the students (and faculty, and now, apparently, other parts of society). This is the second Wednesday with huge groups of students marching (peacefully, today) toward the center of the city. Other pictures here.
What impressed me most, seeing this picture, is the force of peaceful, focused, protest (as opposed to the weakness of repetitive violence).
